Christmas Day

Christmas day was a wonderful, relaxing time with just our little family. We opened presents, enjoyed our breakfast, and then Weston, Greyson, and I napped while the big boys played with their new presents. I was a little under the weather so Weston took the lead and made a delicious dinner of beef tenderloin, fresh green beans, mashed potatoes w/bacon, and salad. All of which we enjoyed in our jammies of course. It was a perfect day!

Christmas Eve

This year we were invited to our friends house for a huge feast. We enjoyed tons of yummy food and great friends. I didn’t get any pictures at the party since I was too busy eating and chatting. When we got home we did our traditional Christmas Eve activities. The boys search the tree to find the hidden pickle ornament to see who gets to open the first present. This year London found it! Then the boys put out reindeer food and cookies for Santa, and take one last peek at the Norad Santa tracker. Lastly we like to read the Christmas story before bed. Then it was a LONG night of wrapping presents while watching the movie “Elf” for Weston and I.

This year we decorated our cookies on Christmas Eve morning. As always it was so much fun and such a big mess! The boys (including Weston) got really creative in their decorating. Of course we had to eat a few or three during the process!

Winterhaven

This weekend we made a visit to Winterhaven. Winterhaven is a neighborhood in Tucson that goes ALL out with their Christmas décor. For two weeks in December they open their neighborhood for anyone to walk through and enjoy all of their hard work. They have police at all four entrances and they don’t allow any cars through (unless you live there of course) so the streets are full of families enjoying the festivities. In the center of the neighborhood they have music playing and several food vendors selling hot dogs, kettle corn, and of course hot chocolate. These generous residents offer this fun event FREE of charge. They do ask that you bring canned food for their drive. It’s one of the biggest fund raisers for local food banks. This year we let the older boys ride their scooters around. They had so much fun! We usually end up walking at least a couple of miles, so this made the route much easier for them. I’m so glad we were able to squeeze this fun event in just before Christmas. It was the perfect way to kick off Christmas week!
